Fight for Life, Shantanu's book, tells us about his determination to fight against all odds to stay alive. Once his book was published, he decided to start blogging. The idea was simple: to inform the reader why he wrote the book, and to include excerpts from his book. The blog begins where the book leaves off, with notes on his journey post the book, between 2012 and 2015.
Samiir had a large social circle and his love for adventure sports ensured that his friends circle only got larger. With time, his friends started moving to other cities, getting married, and got busy with their own lives. About the same time, Samiir was diagnosed with Mpgn ( Membrano proliferative glomerulonephritis), and began dialysis. Being single, lonely and frustrated, he was thrown off balance. With no one to share his feelings and frustrations, he took to blogging. That was how his blog came into being.
Kamal, diagnosed with ESKD (End stage kidney disease) 23 years ago had to undergo a gamut of treatments for Atypical HUS, his primary disease. He has been on dialysis all these years and is currently on daily nocturnal home HD. He is the co-founder of NephroPlus, and has years of experience with in-centre HD, PD, kidney transplant and home HD. Kamal embarked on the hitherto Uncharted territory of blogging at a time when it was relatively new to the internet, and content writing by a patient was unheard of. He regularly updates the blog with information and tips for patients to lead a normal and complete life on dialysis.
