Addressing the Global Burden of Disease
Kidney Warriors Foundation (KWF) holds a unique position of being the first Kidney Patient Advocacy body to work for patient welfare. From the time when it was incorporated on 20th December 2017 many landmark steps have been taken to improve awareness for managing disease through educational workshops and providing constant nutritional guidance.
We represent patients at National Oversight Committee (NatCom) for National Dialysis Programme, represent India at the International Society of Nephrology’s Patient Liaison Advisory Group, International Federation of Kidney Foundations and American Association of Kidney Patients.
Taking steps to address the world concerns over rising burden of disease, we are planning a series of “Knowledge Workshops” with an event on 4th September 2022 in Bangalore’s Koramangala and a second one in Mumbai on 11th September 2022.
Slowing down progression on CKD in stages 1-5 will be our focus. Patients remain shocked, isolate themselves and get confused trying to understand how to manage this disastrous disease. Our panel of doctors from across the cities’ hospitals, representing both super-specialty and Government managed institutes will share impactful information for patients to manage disease better.
Sessions for people on dialysis and transplant will clarify doubts and aims to prevent possible comorbidities like cardiac emergencies.
The programme is developed by the Foundation keeping patients interests at large. Patients with long-term management of CKD, Dialysis and Transplants will be rewarded.
In the past our city level seminars were successful in Pune, Bangalore, Kolkatta, Chandigarh among others. Over 6300 patients benefit from our on-line presence and get information from webinars and our emotional support. People from all over India are connected with us. Our financial support reaches several hundreds of patients through funds internally generated.
