Kidney Warriors Foundation wrote to the Central and State Governments on the basis of complaints received from patients that some of the dialysis centres under the Pradhan Mantri National Dialysis Programme (PMNDP) were being run by technicians without the guidance of nephrologists.

The dialysis machines were not properly serviced and even the quality of water used and treatment provided were doubtful.  We also raised the issue with the Human Rights Commission on the state of affairs at the centres and the denial of proper treatment to dialysis patients.  The  (PMNDP) programme is run under a public-private partnership. Recently a tender has been issued inviting interested service providers to place their bid.
